This set of articles includes some of my typical responses in my private practice to frequently asked questions, as well as suggestions for difficult behaviors. Parents bring children into my practice for therapy with many difficult issues that they feel stuck on ... Nothing seems to help, and sometimes things seem to be getting worse.

As a parent, I often felt stuck myself. The younger of my two sons had a learning disability. I know the feeling of doubting your own parenting decisions, reactions and methods. It's a terrible feeling. There are no higher stakes for a parent than the welfare of their child. So we tend to beat ourselves up for our child's difficulties. We want to get it right, set our child up for success in the future, and have a loving relationship through it all.

Not so simple. I hope these articles make it a little easier to understand some of your child's behavior and in turn, help you to help your child through the challenges that your family, like so many other families, encounter along the sometimes rocky path of childhood.
